An old way of reading slowly: read, reflect, respond, then rest.
Open a chapter first, then come back and study it.
1. Read
Read the passage aloud, once, without hurrying.
2. Reflect
Which word or line stays with you? Sit with that, not with the whole chapter.
3. Respond
Speak to God about that word. A sentence is enough.
4. Rest
Stop talking. Let the line be quiet with you.
